Hi, my name is Anne-Sophie Benoit and I’m a French photographer who also loves speaking English

My current home is the wonderful city of Lyon, France. But I have lived all over the place: London, Dublin, Benin, etc.
As you would expect, photography is my biggest passion in life. Ever since I was little, I have always loved collecting and capturing memories, and so becoming a photographer was my natural calling (after a small detour via business school). But it’s not my only passion: the English language and culture come in a close second!

I got into learning English at an early age, listening to my brother struggle with his homework. Even though he hated it, I was instantly fascinated. I then started listening to British/American music, and quickly I moved on to films and tv series (never dubbed). The more I learned, the deeper in love I fell. So much so that people often say I should have been born in the UK!

Whether it be England, Ireland or America, I just feel so at home. The care-free attitude is amazing and the fact that no one judges you for how many tattoos you have or what you’re wearing (besides socks and sandals) is such a breath of fresh air.
That being said, I still love my home country and my life here.
So, if you’re getting married in France and want an English-speaking photographer: I’m your gal!

Photography is all about storytelling

I believe the bond between photographer and subject is much akin to that of author and protagonist. Except that instead of using words to tell your story, I use photos.
Each new image is a new chapter, narrating a different emotion, a different part of the history and indescribable chemistry between you and your other half. Put all these chapters together and you end up with a novel of your life, written by me.
However, just like an author and their protagonists, this would be an impossible task if we didn’t have a connection. And connection is the glue that holds the pages together. That’s why it’s so important for me to truly get to know the couples I photograph. I want to know your story: where you came from, how you got here and where you want to go.
You’re embarking on an adventure together.
Can if I be your biographer?

What I do when I’m not photographing weddings

Since I only do a maximum of 15 weddings a year, I have a bit of spare time on my hands.
One cause I care deeply about is climate change and animal welfare — hence why I’m vegan. I therefore like to put my artistic talents to use for eco-friendly companies who want to advertise their products/services. It’s a very stimulating process because I also have a hand in choosing the models, makeup and location.
Whenever I don’t have a camera in hand, you’ll find me enjoying the big outdoors with my boyfriend or playing with Juice, my cat.
I also couldn’t live without my subscriptions to Netflix and Spotify. My favourite TV shows are The Office and Rick & Morty. ). I also love music, and I’ll listen to anything from folk all the way to hardcore punk (especially if it’s live).
